3D/4D Scans
A 4D scan gives you a unique opportunity to bond with your unborn baby. Using the latest GE Voluson ultrasound scanner, you can see what your baby looks like in 3D/4D. The scanner generates life like moving images of the baby in the womb, which are seen at the time of the scan. You may see your baby yawn, grimace or wave their hand, each baby is different.
All the sonographers at Bayscan are experienced professionals who will use their scanning skills, together with knowledge of the equipment to bring you a special view into your baby's world.
When you visit for a 3D/4D scan you should allow up to an hour. You may bring up to 4 people to watch, besides the mum to be. You will all have an excellent view of the scan on a large wall mounted TV monitor, (mums to be, note, no twisting your neck for a good view at Bay Scan)
Initially, we will show you a 2D scan of the baby, and descibe clearly what you are looking at. We will sex the baby if you wish. We would never tell you the gender of the baby without your permission. We will measure your baby and assess the baby's wellbeing. (This scan is not a substitute for the 20 week anomaly scan which you will have had prior to this scan) We will move on to show you your baby in 4D imaging, paying particular attention to the baby's face as everyone is interested to see who they look like.
We will record the best scan images on to a CD for your computer & record it all on a DVD to watch at home on your television. Overall we will scan you for up to 20 minutes. The sonographer can help you choose the best images from the whole scan to print 4 images onto glossy photographic paper. So you take home a DVD, a CD rom with the images taken and 4 glossy photographs.
3D/4D scans can give astonishingly clear views of your unborn baby, but sometimes due to the baby's position, placental position, amount of water around the baby or the size of mum, we may not see the baby as well as we hoped. We may ask you to walk around and, or have a drink to encourage the baby to move into a position where we can get a better image. We are situated in a public park, so there is plenty of space to have a walk and try again a bit later. There is a large, new childrens play area in the park, picnic tables and a pub which serves food, to help you plan your trip.
Be reassured that the sonographers will use their expertise to get the best possible images on the day.
We recommend that 3D/4D scans are performed during the 26 - 32 week period, when more animated facial images can usually be seen. You do not need a full bladder when you come for this scan. It would be helpful if you could bring your hand held notes with you.
Most of all relax and enjoy your 4D scan, knowing you are in the hands of caring health professionals, who will guide you through this unique experience. |
